Hello! Tere tere vanakere!                                                                                                                                            On tuesday we went to a bog to experience Estonian nature. We started by taking a bus from ”Reaali poiss” to Kõnnu-Suursoo, which took around 1 hour. When we got there, the guide gave us snowshoes to walk on the bog. After that we started we started walking through a small forest to get to the actual bog. Halfway there, militarymen stopped us and informed us, that we can’t go past some poles due to military training. During our trip we tried the fresh water, went up a tower and some people even fell in:). After that we ate by the bus and started driving back. Overall it was a lot of walking and it was really fun.                                                                                   

After school, we also went to a spa called Mustamäe Elamus Spa. In there we got to try all kinds of different saunas, pools and even waterslides. It was a raelly cool way to end the day and everyone loved it.

We arrived at school on Monday morning and we had a quick visit to learn a little bit about it with amazing students like Stella, Adele, Lilli and Anna. 

Firstly, we saw the huge building. And we noticed one of the differences compared with our school. Our school isn’t built in different buildings, Tallinns high school is located far away from the main building. In contrast, Txingudi is separated into three, early childhood education, primary and high school, and they are close to each other. Apart from that, this school offers a cafeteria. There, you could choose drinks and some food and that is very beneficial for their students. 

The old town tour started with getting into groups of three or four. Everyone went their separate ways and on the tour we bumped into each other. The tour was really thorough. We walked through the Governor’s garden and went to different viewing platforms to look over the whole old town. We took pictures everywhere and learned a lot of fun historical facts.  Definitely reached the steps goal for the day, because in the end, we had walked 7 kilometers. Estonian students tried to remember the knowledge learned in history class and explain every place as best as they could. Hopefully no one was cold and had a great time!

We went to two classes yesterday, and there were a lot of differences compared to our school. One of the most shocking difference was that in the class people went to the toilet without asking the teacher. In our school, we need teachers’ permission to go to the toilet, and we can´t go whenever we want. Another difference is that in this school, they can use the mobile phone when they want. In our school, we can’t ever have it in our pocket. In conclusion, I think this school has more freedom than ours and this can affect students’ feelings and consequently their studies.

The library experience was really fun – we had never been to the Liivalaia library before. It was also cool that we went there by foot, because then the Estonians could show the city to the Basques! We enjoyed seeing books in so many different languages, like English, Spanish, Ukrainian, French, German, Latvian, Finnish etc. When we arrived at the library, there was a woman who worked as a librarian, she showed us the “classroom”, where we spent our first hour. In that class the woman told us about similes, metaphors and proverbs. It was very interesting! After that every group could invent their own book and then we had a tour in the library, there were so many books, like dictionaries and comics, fiction and nonfiction. When the tour ended, we went outside and you know what? It was s n o w i n g!! The Basques were very happy to see it! It was a valuable experience! 

Stella, Helin, Amaiur, Elaia

When we arrived to the airport of Tallinn the echange students they welcomed us warmly. The first impressions of Tallin where very good .The city is very beautiful and  unusual. The city was divided in diferent parts and there was a lot of green and that is very curios.  The truth is that i expected something else.  It was quite cold . The people it was very friendly and also the families. They recived us at the airport and the meeting was very fun. When I arrived in Tallin i was very nervous to se Hanna-britt. I was like waiting for the reunion for a long time. We left the door and i went straigth to Hanna´s . She gave me a ballon and his parents welcomed me warmly. After taking the photo we went home. Hanna it was very nice to me. We were both a little embarrassed but that did not prevent speak pleasently. The other students they were just like a little bit embarrased like us. But in general it was very good start in Estonia.

Binta

At saturday Bask´s had their first full day in Estonia and we needed to do some intresting cultural activites with families. Me and my here staying Bask, visited Pirita TV tower and Maarjamäe loss history museum and aslo a skywheel in the evening what had really beautiful view. Other familys did similar things like visiting zoo, fotography museum, Kadriorg park and also a lot of familys went to the Baltijaama market and tried different food. And some even tried to ski! I think these kinds of activites are good, because then our visitors can learn more about Estonia and also can get to know more about the familys they are staying with this week. In the evening we had and welcome party. In the upcoming week, we are going to do more fun activites like these. I definetly had a lot of fun and hopefully others enjoyd it too!

Hanna-Britt 145.a

My project partner and I searched eachother up on Instagramsome weeks in advance of meeting. We talked quite a lot and got to know the other person briefly. I virtually helped my project partner Mare pack so I was slowly realizing that I was going to have a friend living with me for a week. The day of the students arrival I was quite nervous, but also excited. Us, the estonian exchange students, we made a sign to welcome Txingudi school. We all stood behind the sign and waited with anticipation for them to come. Once the doors opened and we saw them, we were so happy. They came out and quickly found us. I was especially happy to meet Mare because I had known her for some time and it was very great finally meeting her. I was filled with joy!

Nele 145a

Last Saturday, after a long and fun day we went on an event with all of the families and their exchange students. The dinner was celebrated in the top floor of a school, and we did so many things. First of all, we wrote our names in labels and got into a room. They performed a lot of shows, for exaple a girl played a beautiful song with the violin. Some Estonian kids performed a little play, and people laughed a lot, but it was in estonian so we couldn´t understand a thing. A nice girl recited an estonian poem too, but there wasn´t a translation either so we didn´t understand a thing; i think it was about a sad topic . Then we watched a video of a singer and a lot of estonian people singing a popular song, with thousands of people watching, it was very interesting. After that, we danced the traditional Estonian dances, it was fun. Us, as Basque students, had to do a presentation of our culture, school and country. Between these events, we went to another room to eat the food the families brought. It was typical and traditional Estonian food, and there was such a big variety, from the sweetest strawberries and cookies to the most exotic fish and bread bites. It was interesting meeting all the families and geting to know more about the Estonian culture.
