  • Visit to the Vabamu museum

On our first day, we visited the Vabamu Museum of Occupations and Independence, where we learned a lot about Estonia’s history and how our country gained independence after the Soviet occupation. We also saw different historical pictures and items, such as an old boatwreck. The guide told us different people’s stories and experiences from that time, and after the tour, we discussed the topic in smaller groups.

  • Introduction into the project

On Thursday morning, on our first day, we met at our school during the first lesson to play some icebreaker games and discuss the week ahead. We had prepared a presentation of our school, school system and Estonia for the French students, and we also taught them some common Estonian words. The different teambuilding activities we did were, for example, a bingo about facts about people, discussing a topic with another person for a short time and introducing ourselves with a fun fact. It was very fun to get to know each other, and it was a great start to our project!

  • Welcoming the French students

On the 2nd of April we were all very excited to finally meet our French students. They had been travelling the whole day from 6 AM and flew from Geneva to Warsaw and from Warsaw straight to Tallinn. In the Tallinn Airport, we all gathered at 6 PM to wait for our exchange students to arrive. We had also made a Welcome To Estonia poster to greet them with. When they finally stepped through the gliding doors, we started screaming with happiness and hugged them. Gathering their luggage and heading back home with them was the first part of our journey together.

  • First video meeting with French students

On tuesday, 25th March, we had our first video meeting with the students from France. We got to meet their class and teacher through a video call and we had the opportunity to answer some of their questions about our school life and Estonia. We also asked them about their school and France in general and discussed some things about the plans and activities when they come to Estonia. It was very fun and exciting to meet them, and we can’t wait for them to visit us!
